nifty shuffler of quicktimes #1: (audio swap)
I’ve never really played with applescript before but thought it would be the easiest way to handle this particular problem. Did you ever want to randomly rearrange the audio on a folder full of movies?
no? That’s ok. I have weird hobbies.
I have let’s say 20 movies and I want to randomly reassign the audio tracks between them. Let’s also further assume that these movies are of low quality, and to pull them into a more high end editing program would require “upressing” of both picture and audio quality, and a waste of computer resources. Quicktime Pro and Applescript to the rescue!
Point this little doohickey at a folder full of .mov files and it will pull the old audio switcheroo on them. be sure to shuffle the deck at least 7 times for maximum randomness. Me, I used 500.
oh yeah, this is my first EVAR applescript so don’t expect any miracle displays of efficiency.
Wondering what the hell I’m using this for? Here’s a hint: It works best on things that you have a lot of, and are of similar lengths and formats.
edit: if anyone (by which I mean, at least TWO people) are interested, I’ll take the extra 10 minutes and rewrite it to pull all the audios off the tracks at once, and reassign them in a single batch which is probably more efficient but requires more skilled manipulation of windows in qt
